PetPace Named Israel’s Most Promising Pet Tech Startup

PetPace, the company behind an advanced Internet of Things (IoT) collar for continuous, remote monitoring of pet health, has been honored as “Israel’s Most Promising Startup.” The recognition came from the fifth annual competition, where PetPace was selected from more than 150 entrants. The contest is organized by prominent Israeli business daily Calcalist and supported by the Israel Export Institute and Bank HaPoalim, Israel’s largest commercial bank.

The PetPace system is designed for both dogs and cats and combines non-invasive sensors with cloud analytics to deliver real-time insight into a pet’s condition. The collar continuously measures vital signs and behavior, including temperature, pulse, respiration, activity level, body position, and estimated calorie expenditure. This steady stream of biometric and activity data is transmitted to smartphone and web applications, giving pet owners and veterinarians immediate access to up-to-date health information.

What sets PetPace apart is its cloud-based analytics engine that processes the raw data and evaluates it against individual, historical and breed-specific patterns. By analyzing trends and deviations, the system can detect early signs of illness or distress and generate real-time alerts. Those alerts are sent to pet owners and veterinary professionals, enabling faster awareness and more timely intervention or treatment when abnormalities are detected.

PetPace was founded in 2012 by a team that combines business and veterinary expertise: Avner Schneur, head of the US-based Kormeli technology investment group; Avi Menkes, a serial entrepreneur formerly CEO of RFID startup SandLinks; and Dr. Asaf Dagan, a practicing veterinarian and Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) with specialization in canine and feline medicine. Their complementary backgrounds—investment, product and market experience, and clinical veterinary knowledge—have guided the product’s development to align with real-world veterinary needs.

The award highlights PetPace’s role in continuing Israel’s reputation as a global technology innovator. Often referred to as the “startup nation,” Israel has produced influential technologies found across businesses and homes worldwide. Examples commonly cited include the Internet firewall, modern cellular billing systems, voicemail, VoIP telephony and instant messaging—technologies developed in Israel that helped shape modern communications and security. PetPace was chosen by a distinguished panel of judges composed of respected leaders from Israel’s technology and financial communities, underscoring both the product’s technical strengths and its commercial promise.

In earning the Most Promising Startup title, PetPace will represent the Israeli technology sector at the Israel Export Institute’s booth during the Mobile World Congress. This appearance offers an opportunity to showcase the PetPace collar to global telecom, technology and healthcare audiences at one of the world’s largest mobile and connected-technology events.

Beyond the award itself, the recognition reflects growing interest in wearable and connected devices for animal health and welfare. Continuous monitoring solutions like PetPace aim to transform how pet owners and veterinarians track and manage health by moving from intermittent observations to ongoing, data-driven care. Early detection of physiological changes can reduce the time to diagnosis, improve outcomes, and help manage chronic conditions more effectively. For busy pet owners and veterinary teams, such systems can provide peace of mind and practical information when decisions need to be made.

PetPace’s combination of non-invasive sensing, cloud analytics, and mobile accessibility underscores the broader trend toward connected health tools for people and pets alike. By delivering actionable insights and immediate alerts, the company’s collar is positioned to enhance preventive care and accelerate response to health concerns. The Most Promising Startup award acknowledges both the innovation behind the technology and its potential impact on veterinary care and pet wellbeing.

As PetPace moves forward, the company will continue to refine its analytics and user experience, working with pet owners and veterinary professionals to ensure the device meets clinical needs while remaining easy to use. The team’s recognition in this national competition marks an important milestone and creates a platform for broader visibility at international industry events.
