This past month, the entire Wellness organization came together to celebrate Global Service Day. More than 250 Wellness team members—affectionately known as “Wellies”—spent the day volunteering at local shelters and rescue organizations around the world. Teams were active across the United States, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Canada, supporting animal welfare by cleaning, socializing animals, assisting staff, and helping prepare shelters to welcome new pets into loving homes.
Take a look at some of the photos!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every organization that welcomed our volunteers and allowed us to share the day with them. The efforts on Global Service Day were varied and impactful: volunteers walked dogs, socialized cats, cleaned and organized supplies, repaired outdoor spaces, assembled enrichment items, photographed animals for adoption profiles, and spent time giving comfort and attention to pets awaiting new homes. These hands-on activities not only supported day-to-day shelter operations but also helped improve the well-being and adoptability of many animals.
Partner Shelters and Adoption Opportunities
If you are considering adding a new member to your family, many of the shelters below work daily to place pets in caring homes. - Lowell Humane Society, Lowell, MA
- Salem Animal Rescue League, Salem, NH
- Cape Ann Animal Aid, Gloucester, MA
- MSPCA at Nevins Farm, Methuen, MA

Every home is better with a pet, and supporting shelters—through adoption, fostering, donations, or volunteer time—helps ensure more animals find safe, permanent homes. If you’re not ready to adopt, consider other ways to help: volunteer locally, donate supplies or funds, spread the word about animals in need, or foster to provide temporary care while a pet waits for adoption.
We were especially grateful to work alongside a partner shelter affiliated with Best Friends Animal Society, which shares our mission of helping homeless pets find forever homes. Collaborations like these strengthen local networks and amplify our collective ability to reduce pet homelessness.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to Global Service Day—our volunteers, the shelter staff, and the community partners. Together we made a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the people who care for them.
